THE GOLDEN KEY
And Other Short Stories
by James H. Street as read by Barry Stoltze, Elliot Street, and others.
This audiobook is the 1st in a series dedicated to 20th Century Mississippi author James Street. A prolific writer and William Faulkner contemporary, he penned such boy-and-dog classics as “Goodbye, My Lady” and “The Biscuit Eater”, as well as “Nothing Sacred” and “Tap Roots”, all made into successful films. The select short stories, letters, and remembrances in this collection represent an excellent scholarly start to appreciating James Street and his body of work.
Many thanks to his nephew, actor Elliott Street, who can be heard reading “Dixie”. Included in the audiobook are “The Old Gordon Place”, a story about swamp ‘ramuses; “The Golden Key”, with a young Mississippi boy and the 1912 World Series; two tales that became “Goodbye, My Lady”; Street correspondences with friends and foes; and a fitting tribute by a fellow journalist. John Atwood, Jerry Griffin, and Barry and Carol Stoltze also narrate.

VACHEL LINDSAY: THE VAGABOND POET
A New Stage Play
by Barry Stoltze
“Easily the most important living American poet”. That is how literary giant W.B. Yeats described the iconoclastic Vachel Lindsay in 1914.
This stage play tells Lindsay’s life story through his words and those of his family and colleagues, and from his works, letters, and other well-researched sources. It’s an Artist’s journey, a delicate balancing act of all 3 pieces of the Triangle: Art, Shelter, and The Embrace. And to finding fulfillment in life.
